Sakami Coffee's Kenya Batian is a specialty coffee grown in one of Kenya's most captivating and pristine regions: the slopes of Mount Elgon, in Trans Nzoia County, at an altitude of approximately 1,800 meters. This coffee is carefully cultivated on Sakami Farm, a sustainable farm founded by Gloria and Jarmo Gummerus, pioneers in regenerative agriculture, who have transformed their corner of the world into a shining example of biodiversity, equity, and quality.

The Batian variety, one of Africa's most resilient and aromatically interesting cultivars, is hand-picked only at the perfect stage of ripeness. The cherries undergo a meticulous washed processing: they are selected, depulped, fermented in water for 20–24 hours, and then carefully washed before being slowly dried on raised beds for two weeks. This method, combined with the altitude and volcanic terroir, helps enhance the purity and brilliance of the aromatic profile.

In the cup, Kenya Batian is an explosion of elegance and complexity. The first notes to emerge are those of blackcurrant and plum, followed by more delicate hints of chamomile, red apple, and white grape. This is supported by a honeyed sweetness and a bright, never overpowering acidity, making it ideal for filter brewing (V60, Chemex, Kalita), but also surprising as a low-temperature espresso. The body is silky, well-structured, and leaves the palate clean and satisfied.

Each bag of Kenya Batian tells an authentic story: that of a supply chain that places people and the environment at its center. Sakami Farm protects 6 hectares of natural marshland, uses solar panels for all production, practices agroforestry with macadamia and avocado trees, and promotes women's independence through microcredit groups. Choosing this coffee means supporting a forward-looking agricultural model, respecting roots and valuing rural work.

This microlot represents the best of Kenya, in an accessible, traceable, and deeply human version. The perfect choice for discerning coffee lovers, baristas seeking an extraordinary filter coffee, or anyone looking to take home a cup that captivates from the very first sip.
