Description
Kasim Negeso & Yusra Aman's Nensebo Grade 1 is a coffee that tells an authentic story of passion, terroir, and transformation. We are in the Chiri Kebekle region, bordering Sidamo, one of Ethiopia's most renowned coffee-producing areas, the birthplace of Coffea Arabica.
Here, between 1,900 and 2,200 meters above sea level, Kasim Negeso and Yusra Aman launched their farming enterprise in 2017. In just a few years, with dedication and vision, they transformed a few plots into an estate spanning over 17 hectares, with the goal of building their own washing station. This coffee represents the union of an extraordinary terroir and conscious, sustainable agricultural management.
The process follows the washed method, with fermentation for 32–36 hours in tanks, washing in running water, and slow drying on raised African beds. This meticulously controlled process yields a clean, complex, and luminous cup, in which each aromatic note emerges with precision.
The sensory profile is elegant and refined: the nose opens with intense floral notes, such as jasmine and verbena, accompanied by citrus nuances of sweet lemon, bergamot, and mandarin. On the palate, the fruity sweetness of ripe peach and white grape blends with the honeyed richness of lime blossom, finishing on a long, fresh note of jasmine and black tea.
The body is light yet syrupy, with a vibrant yet balanced acidity, ideal for those seeking a deep, rich, and understated cup. It is an extremely versatile coffee: its complexity is enhanced by filter methods such as V60, Chemex, and Aeropress, but it also proves surprising as an espresso, with its elegant texture and lingering aftertaste. In cold extractions, such as cold brew, it reveals an exotic dimension with notes of passion fruit and maracuja.
Nensebo is much more than just coffee: it is the result of the will of two small Ethiopian producers who, with courage and expertise, are redefining the boundaries of quality coffee. A pure sensory experience, reminiscent of mountains, flowers, sun, and expert hands.
Each cup is a journey into the Ethiopian highlands, amidst culture, biodiversity, and craftsmanship.
